Thanks to friends, family, and the constant work of our project team to spread and share the Kickstarter campaign, not only have we reached our $25,000 funding goal, but we were able to surpass it! With a total of 232 backers, we made just over $33,000.

Denzel said it best:

In the midst of a pandemic, we were able to secure talent and build bridges with partners of this industry who we admire with the utmost respect. With less than a month deadline, we launched our campaign and we were met with an overflow of love, abundance, and strong support for an initiative that resonates deeply with us. As filmmakers, we not only reached out to the community, but further empowered one another to find our strengths during these times of “industry pause.” And in light of the harrowing events that have taken place to my people, the civil unrest that rises within the streets, and the cries from my brothers and sisters of our pain-stricken historic past, I can proudly say my team and I have been forged with extreme vigor and determination to honor the culture and bring forth this powerful narrative; a narrative that will continue the conversation, call attention to the human condition as a whole, and further exemplify Black representation in the film and television industry.

Thank you to the sites like Shadow & Act, Black Film, and The Knocturnal for helping to increase awareness and reach of Denzel’s story and the 5150 campaign.

Thank you to Executive Producer David Oyelowo and leading actor Jovan Adepo for joining and their continuous support through the campaign. Oyelowo says, “5150 is an incisive look into the power, pain and pitfalls of what has become a modern obsession...celebrity. Denzel’s script is subversive and unapologetic. I felt compelled to support the potency of his voice.”

And most importantly, thank you to all 232 backers of the campaign for believing enough in the project even through the current times of global pandemic and nationwide uprisings against current unjust establishments.
