Our Kickstarter campaign which has been live for nearly two weeks and has already gained so much love and support by backers and publications.

The short film, 5150, is set to tackle mental health by exploring mental health within the black community with the sometimes toxic power of celebrity.

Writer and Director for 5150, Denzel Whitaker, was recently interviewed with The Knocturnal about the project and how it came to be starting from 2017. Denzel tells Maldonado for The Knocturnal, “So I was thinking of all of the different topics that I wanted to spotlight and one of my favorite artists at the time, Kanye West, was just recently 5150. It really got me spinning my wheels about how misunderstood Kanye could often be but a lot of the time we as artists could be misunderstood. When that happened to him, I wanted to pull back the curtain and look into it and see what is our relationship with society and celebrities.”

4WT Media joined the project in August of 2018 with our CEO, John Trefry, helping in co-writing the script.

The short film will star Jovan Adepo (When They See Us, Watchmen) as the lead and will be produced by 4WT Media and David Oyelowo’s Yoruba Saxon Productions. 5150 is set to film in Los Angeles over summer with goals of joining the festival circuit and wide release. The short will also serve as a proof of concept for a limited series.
